About Me

I'm Nick — a filmmaker and photographer in San Diego.

It all started when I first watched The Endless Summer by Bruce Brown. I was hooked from the first watch. Bruce Brown had taken a camera around the world chasing summer, and what came back wasn't a sports movie — it was warm and funny and a little handmade. I went looking for the rest of his films after that: Slippery When Wet, Surf Crazy, Barefoot Adventure, Surfing Hollow Days. Same feeling every time. That's what sent me toward old cameras.

Now, I mainly shoot Super 8 alongside digital cameras. When the film comes back with grain in it and a little softness, and it looks less like a record of the day and more like a memory of it. That nostalgic feeling is something I think we've lost a little, and chasing it is a big part of why I keep shooting.

Here's some of my work below!
